BT becomes the world’s largest business-focused mobile service provider with the launch of BT Business Class Mobile

BT has expanded its global mobility portfolio with the launch of BT Business Class Mobile services in Spain and Italy. This follows agreements signed with Vodafone in each country, under which BT becomes a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in Spain and a Service Provider in Italy. Both agreements focus wholly on business customers, making BT the largest multi-country business focused mobile service provider.

BT is rapidly expanding its mobility portfolio to help global organisations empower their employees with advanced communication and collaboration services, wherever they are. The new Vodafone agreements will enable us to expand the range of mobility services available to business customers in Spain and Italy, including fixed-mobile convergence services.

“Spain and Italy are key markets for BT, key regions for many of our multinational enterprise customers, and are showing huge interest in mobile as well as fixed-mobile convergence solutions,” said Rocky Mahajan, Director of Mobility, BT International.

“BT Business Class Mobile will meet the rapidly growing demand for business mobility services in each country. As an MVNO in Spain, and a Service Provider in Italy, we’ll be able to tailor a range of best-in-class services to meet the specific needs of our business customers – with the assurance of innovative functionality and exceptional service levels that come with BT,” he added.

The new agreements with Vodafone complement BT’s existing relationships with mobile providers in the UK and Germany. BT expects to launch a range of new services under the BT Business Class Mobile brand to customers in Spain and Italy towards the end of 2007.
